Two things: bike around Mount Rainier, two weeks later, backpack around it. I was fortunate to get selected to ride in R.A.M.R.O.D. (Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day) this year, which is a 152 mile ride around the mountain with about 10,000 feet of climbing. Here’s a rider’s strava info from last year.
I made myself a training schedule, which gradually increases in distance/elevation over the next two months. This will be my first ultra-marathon type ride and I’m excited and nervous about it.
Since I figure to be in the best shape of my life, I’ll also be backpacking the Wonderland Trail with my friend Jonathan. Typically done in 10 days, it’s a 93 mile hike with a lot of elevation gain/loss through all types of terrain. We’ll be taking our time and doing it in 11 days instead.
I’ll try to be more diligent about documenting my journey here.
Song has been in my head all day.
